Slumbering in the Tent of Your Father [ A ]

Many people have already been born into deficit. For some, your father was poor and to compound his problem, he married multiple wives thus increasing the level of poverty and it was from this background you were born - right into a deficit. Some have come from homes where people do not prosper. Some have come from homes where marriages do not work. Some have come from homes where all men must marry witches and their women, wizards. They have already been born into deficit.

Many have been born spiritually blind, deaf, dumb and far away from God. Right from when they were born and started crying, they have been in bondage. They were born and raised in idolatry and given herbal concoction to drink - they have been born in deficit. Perhaps, you have grown up seeing your father as a drunkard or grown up in a family house where incest or some sort of sexual perversion was practiced. Already, you were born into that deficit, but the truth is this: you do not have to remain in that deficit.

Jesus was born in a manger, yet went to become the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The fact that you were born in a manger does not mean you should die in one. Many are still slumbering in the tent of their father's house and need to get out of that tent. Some men are married, but still inside the apron of their mother. Some women are married, but still inside the pocket of their father.
In Jeremiah 48:11,

¹¹Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed

In Genesis 19:30-37,

³⁰And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. ³¹And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: ³²Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. ³³And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. ³⁴And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. ³⁵And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. ³⁶Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. ³⁷And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day

The passages above illustrate the deficit into which Moab was born. He could not change.
In Mark 8:22-26,

²²And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. ²³And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. ²⁴And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. ²⁵After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. ²⁶And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

Beloved, this is the first time in the scripture that Jesus laid hands upon a person and the healing was immediately perfect. He had to lay hands on him again because of where the man had originated from. Some people may pray a single prayer point and they are okay, but some will need to pray 2000 before they move from their present location because of the well from which they were dug out.

In verse 26, questions abound: Why did Jesus not heal the man in that town? Are there some miracles that cannot be performed in certain locations? Are there locations that resist divine intervention? If Bethsai'da was such a no-go area, what was Jesus himself doing there? Are there some problems that are connected to certain locations? The bottom line is this: if you do not get out of the tent of your father's house, there are certain locations you will never reach for the rest of your life.

If you will ever see a revival in your life before you die, there must be a change. If you will make Heaven, there must be a change. If men will see your footprints in the sand of time, you will have to change. It is a tragedy to allow what stopped your father to stop you where it stopped him or your mother where it stopped her. Let me give you some hard facts about change:

• You either change or you harden
• No change is made without inconvenience
• Only the foolish and the dead never change their opinion
• If we don't change, we don't grow
• Progress is impossible without change
• The only human institution which rejects change is the cemetery
• Some people change when they see the light, others change when they feel the heat
• If you do not cry out for a change, you will remain in chains
